This article is a reponse to NeilDLR’s great summary on how we should have an open mind about a Zuma presidency despite our preconceived beliefs.

I am a firm DA supporter and like many people, I believed that JZ should have been brought to trial so that the courts could decide his innocence or guilt on our behalf. I also had strong reservations about appointing a leader who, although was proven innocent, had been charged with very serious allegations of rape and fraud.

But now what’s done is done and we, as a nation, need to move on. We have to respect that we have one of the best legal systems in the world and stand by its decisions and look towards the future with some positivity. I am in no way saying support JZ in all manners and with every policy but we have to give him a fair chance to succeed or fail and I for one, certainly hope that he does not fail.

Despite our views, I am sure we all want to be proud of South Africa and it’s leaders and unless we give JZ the chance to succeed and the support to succeed, how could he ever succeed?

Ultimately he and the ANC need to really show what they are made of, but we too, have a responsibility to stop bitching and whinning and let the man run the country.
